Business Development Core

Description

The Business Development Core (BDC) was created as a partnership between the ICTS and the WU Office of Technology Management (OTM). The BDC, within the OTM, works to:

  • Identify the clinical and translational research projects that have significant potential to lead to improvements in diagnosis or treatment of disease at an early stage, and to provide the necessary expertise and administrative support to realize this potential through commercialization
  • Promote industrial relationships in support of basic research and technology transfer
  • Develop educational programs that instruct investigators, staff and students in technology transfer, including the proper regulatory approvals and procedures needed to introduce promising discoveries identified in the laboratory into the commercial pipeline
  • Work with community and other resources to translate and commercialize research discoveries

Services Available to ICTS Members

The OTM is a successful licensing and patent support center. The BDC serves as the entry point for ICTS investigators to the services and expertise of the OTM. BDC staff is available to:

  • Review Research Designs to identify potential commercialization opportunities
  • Serve as a matchmaker between Investigators and Industrial Partners to maximize research and/or commercialization opportunities
  • Conduct educational programs in technology transfer for investigators, staff and students, including instruction in the proper regulatory approvals and procedures needed to introduce promising discoveries identified in the laboratory into the commercial pipeline
