Translational Pathology & Molecular Phenotyping Core (TPMP)
Description
The overall goal of the TPMP Core is to facilitate the collection, processing,
storage, and molecular analysis of biospecimens from participants enrolled on
clinical and translational research studies. ICTS investigators may utilize the
core to assist in the prospective collection and processing of human blood and
tissue specimens associated with clinical trials, and may also search for and
request previously collected biospecimens for translational and correlative
research studies.
The Core also assists investigators in designing and executing studies focused
on genomic and molecular (e.g. proteomic and lipidomic) analyses of study
participant biospecimens. The TPMP Core is closely aligned with the
Center for Biomedical Informatics
(CBMI) to provide researchers with integrated access to clinical, pathology,
and molecular data asssociated with each study participant biospecimen.
Services Available to ICTS Members
- Support for processing and storage of study participant blood and tissue specimens (by arrangement with study investigators on a protocol-by-protocol basis).
- Support for independent biospecimen inventory and annotation management by migrating private data sources (such as written log books and Excel spreadsheets) to a secure, enterprise-class biospecimen management system - wuTissue.
- Access to archived biospecimens (tumor tissue, non-malignant tissue, peripheral blood leukocytes, serum, plasma) and their molecular derivatives, based on current availability.
- Genomic analysis of human biospecimens using the following platforms:
- Proteomic and Lipedomic analysis of biospecimens is supported in conjunction with the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Core.
