As a statistically trained clinical psychologist, my research interests are broadly focused on disarticulating nosological and developmental heterogeneity underlying alcohol and other substance use disorders with the goal of improving precision health care. My work largely focuses on developmentally relevant genetic, neurobiological, and environmental influences on early alcohol and substance use involvement and progression to alcohol and substance use disorders. In particular, I use longitudinal data analysis and genomic, transcriptomic, and neuroimaging data, with an emphasis on detailed measurement of alcohol and substance use disorders and related traits, including disinhibitory and impulsive traits and negative affect, to examine how influences on these factors and their progression changes across development and into adulthood.
