My research focuses on how individual factors interact with environmental influences in a transactional manner throughout the developmental course of childhood to influence the adaptation of children and their families. My work builds on traditional efficacy studies by focusing on the application of efficacious prevention interventions in typical community settings and exploring factors that facilitate or impede the implementation of these practices. Through my investigation of processes that promote positive adaption and reduce risk for poor developmental trajectories, I aim to provide timely information to both researchers and clinicians regarding how to prevent negative developmental outcomes in often understudied populations of children and their families.
