Ms. Robinson studies participatory empowerment processes embedded within intervention research that improve health and reduce health disparities specifically as it relates to risk behaviors and mental health outcomes associated with exposure to community violence for African American adolescent and young adult populations. Foundational to this research is understanding the association between psychological empowerment, sociopolitical control, and perceptions of collective efficacy and well-being outcomes for the target population. Findings of said research serve to inform the development/enhancement of interventions aimed to reduced risk behaviors among African American adolescents and young adults exposed to community violence.
