Paediatric and adolescent HIV care is much of a concern especially as a number of babies still acquire HIV through mother to child transmission. These are growing into adolescents who are a heterogenous group with special individual needs. One of the areas of emphasis is mental health in this group and of special impact is depression. We seek to study the relationship between depression and antiretroviral medication adherence as well as clinical outcomes. This will cause us to front mental health assessment for the children and adolescents living with HIV as part of the comprehensive health care package for better clinical outcomes.
