The Stratman Lab is interested in understating genetic regulators required for vascular development and stabilization. Our primary focus is on understanding the role of mechanosensitive receptors in altering the transcriptional state of individual cell populations making up the vascular wall. The lab primarily utilizes the zebrafish to capitalize on the ability to carry out imaging analysis of phenotypes in a living vertebrate organism. Our ultimate goal is to understand the common and distinct mechanisms individual cell populations utilize to integrate force sensing and changes in cellular function.
