Arbi Ben Abdallah, Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieur de Doctorat, (D.E.S.), PhD

Associate Professor of Anesthesiology

Washington University in St. Louis (WU)

Dr. Ben Abdallah’s research interests focus on factors promoting healthcare delivery and enhancing surgical practice. He collaborates with medical providers, primarily anesthesiologist seeking ways to understand the role of anesthesia in patient recovery (i.e., delirium, dementia & frailty), improve patient outcomes, and reduce pain, as well as enhance medical practice through training and instructional technology. He uses novel methodological and statistical techniques to examine longitudinal data that monitors patient-reported outcomes, specifically measures emphasizing quality of life before and after surgery. Quality of life revolves around functional limitations, depression, cognition and social activities. The ability to mine patient data using innovative statistical approaches framed by translational approaches to medicine can open new doors to understanding recovery from surgical intervention and developing keener insight into the different facets of healthcare from a patient’s perspective.
