Despite 150 years of use, the physiology underlying how anesthetic agents disrupt networks of cortical and subcortical areas to induce unconsciousness remain poorly understood. My research interests lie in the simultaneous use of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG) in human volunteers undergoing general anesthesia.
