Enbal Shacham, PhD

Associate Dean of Research in the College for Public Health and Social Justice

Saint Louis University (SLU)

Dr. Shacham conducts research focused on evaluating determinants of HIV-related health outcomes through a social ecological framework. Specifically, she conducts multidisciplinary research focused on HIV and its multifaceted impact on individuals and communities. She focuses on secondary prevention for HIV-infected populations, which includes improving health outcomes and reducing transmission of HIV by examining the interactions of social, environmental, behavioral, and psychiatric determinants of health. This research will inform the development of appropriate and successful interventions to reduce HIV incidence rates and improve health outcomes by addressing the salient factors that negatively impact health behaviors. She has conducted research examining the intersection of HIV and mental health both domestically and internationally and hopes to develop future research projects to incorporate environmental and behavioral outcomes on those experiences.
