A clinician scientist in Department of Ophthalmology at SLU and Director of Research. Clinical expertise in retinal and uveitis diseases. Scientific background in immunology and molecular biology. Primary interests in retinal degenerative diseases – specifically, inherited retinal degeneration (i.e. retinitis pigmentosa [RP]), age-related macular degeneration [AMD]), and autoimmune uveitis. Current research programs explore metabolic regulation of photoreceptor function and photoreceptor regeneration in RP, role of complement in AMD, role of gamma delta T cells and exosomes in autoimmune uveitis.
