Traditionally, I have been working on molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to the initiation and progression of chronic kidney disease. Once mechanisms were identified, treatment options with growth factors were devised and tested for efficacy in mouse models of renal fibrosis. We are now developing mass spectral approaches to identify biomarkers in the urinary proteome that are informative in the diagnosis of kidney disease and in measuring efficacy of treatments to reduce kidney disease.
