Traditionally, I have been working on molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to the initiation and progression of chronic kidney disease. Over the past 12 years I have adapted nanotechnology to greatly enhance (100-1000 fold) the identification and quantitation of biomarkers of disease, primarily kidney disease using functionalized gold nanoparticles. Our plasmonic-fluor is an add-on reagent used to identify immune responses to infectious diseases (SARS-CoV-2, Ziika and tick borne diseases), amplify signals in microarrays, lateral flow assays, ELISAs, and flow cytrometry.
