My research program has a disease-oriented approach with a translational intent, and our investigations utilize human samples, mouse models and a combination of bench techniques. Our research program is based on the study of mechanisms of inflammation in the developing human and their contribution to neonatal inflammatory disorders. One area of interest is focused on neutrophil survival mechanisms during normal development and in the context of perinatal conditions (preeclampsia, infection). A related area of study involves the role of crosstalk between innate and adaptive immune mechanisms in the regulation of inflammation.
