Primary interest is Medical Toxicology, including the prediction, detection, mitigation, and treatment of toxic effects of medications or poisons. Specific interests include improvement in treatment of acetaminophen (paracetamol) poisoning, toxic alcohol poisonings, copperhead snakebites, ciguatera fish poisoning, as well as the accurate use and limitations of laboratory testing to diagnose poisoning. Medication safety is of paramount importance. Other research activities involve other areas of emergency medicine and include externally funded clinical trials.
