Structural biology of adeno-associated virus (AAV) and its interactions with human proteins during cell entry and immune neutralization. AAV is a leading vector for human gene therapy (and antigen display for vaccines), and our characterization of its molecular interactions lays a foundation for development of more specific and efficient in vivo therapeutic delivery. Our laboratory brings together electron microscopy, x-ray crystallography and molecular genetics.
