My research focus lies in the realm of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a widespread condition impacting nearly 1 billion individuals globally and serving as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Despite continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) being the primary treatment for OSA, its documented ineffectiveness in preventing cardiovascular mortality in OSA patients necessitates exploration of alternative avenues. I am particularly interested in discerning adjuvant therapeutic targets within preclinical models of OSA. By identifying these targets, my aim is to apply clinical interventions that can effectively mitigate OSA-induced cardiovascular complications, addressing a critical gap in our current understanding and treatment of this prevalent and consequential health issue.
