My research activities for the past several years have been focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms for the development of age related eye diseases, including protein conformation disorders. In addition to analyzing the molecular signature underlying lens pathology and corneal disease, I am also exploring the possibility of identifying epidemiology risk factors for various eye diseases by analyzing electronic medical records and healthfacts databases. This data mining work enables me to focus research towards finding the most prominent reasons for age related eye diseases. It gives new knowledge to understand the risk factors and related disease pathways in order to prevent or delay the onset of age related eye diseases.
