My area of clinical and research interest is in the area of analgesia and procedural sedation for children for radiological and painful procedures. My research is centered on improving the safety of care provided to patients with a focus on procedural sedations performed by hospitalists. I am interested in identifying predictors of adverse events during procedural sedation and making changes in the system to reduce or eliminate such events. Children are often not provided adequate analgesia and sedation for painful procedures. I am interested in factors that lead to underuse of analgesia in children acroos the hospital at various settings and effecting changes in the system such that all children receive adequate analgesia/sedation for painful procedures.
