I am interested in understanding the pathogenesis of bacterial vaginosis (BV), a prevalent polymicrobial imbalance of the vaginal microbiota. My research combines data from in vitro and in vivo model systems with data from human clinical specimens to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying BV etiologies. I am also investigating potential interactions between BV and other pathogenic urogenital bacteria, including Group B Streptococcus and Escherichia coli.
