Washington University in St. Louis (WU)
As Associate Dean for Diversity and Principal Officer for Community Partnerships, I have overseen diversity and inclusion and community affairs, creating durable pipeline programs to develop a diverse workforce of students, residents and faculty in medicine and public health. I have mentored high school students, medical student, residents, and postdocs in the field of chronic disease epidemiology and amelioration of global health disparities, working in Haiti, Ethiopia, and our African American community in North St. Louis. My academic work focuses on promoting heath equity and improving access to health care for medically underserved populations. Those efforts include broadening the societal understanding of the social determinants of health, improving medicine, public health and STEM workforce diversity, and expanding the school of medicine’s local public health footprint. I have received and administered federal and local grants to attract underrepresented students and trainees into careers in STEM and medicine fields.
