William P. Fay, MD

Dr. Fay completed postdoctoral research training with Whyte Owen, PhD, Mayo Clinic, and David Ginsburg, MD, University of Michigan. He is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Missouri, where he conducts research, practices medicine, and teaches. Dr. Fay holds a part-time appointment in the Medical Specialty Service at the Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia, MO. He has a longstanding research interest in thrombosis and vascular biology, with a particular interest in plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and vitronectin. At present a major focus of Dr. Fay’s lab is the role of these extracellular matrix proteins in vascular remodeling, as related to human coronary artery disease.
