The current focus of the laboratory is using state-of-the-art methodologies to identify molecular mechanisms of immune suppression and develop new immune adjuvant therapies for sepsis. We examine sepsis-induced defects in both innate and adaptive immunity Studies are performed on blood samples from critically-ill patients with sepsis and in various pathogen induced (bacterial and fungal) animal models of sepsis.
