WashU Medicine and the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) solicit nominations and full applications for the 2025 Cohort
Program Details
This 2-year program is for early clinical faculty who have been appointed in the last two years or are beginning a new appointment in 2025. It provides research and career mentorship for early career clinical faculty interested in academic medicine. A specific goal is to accelerate the appointment and retention of faculty members from various backgrounds and enhance their individual professional development.
The initiative includes:
- Individualized mentored research experience focusing on personal career development.
- Peer mentoring to develop a community and support network.
- Guidance to funding opportunities with support for grant development and review.
- Programming to prepare cohorts for successful careers in clinical academic medicine.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold an MD or equivalent degree in a clinical department.
- Have completed all medical training and be newly or recently appointed (within the last 2 years) to clinical faculty at WashU Medicine.
- Demonstrate a commitment to a career in academic medicine.
Timeline:
- Program Announcement: March 2025
- Application Opens: March 17, 2025
- Letter of Nomination Deadline: July 1, 2025, by 5:00 pm CT
- Application Deadline: July 31, 2025, by 5:00 pm CT
- Notification: August 25, 2025
- Earliest Start Date: September 1, 2025
Application Process
- The application process is initiated with a letter of nomination (LON) from the department chair or division chief. The LON should describe the candidate’s potential for a career in academic medicine, identify specific strengths, or areas that could benefit from PROUD-MED participation. The letter should demonstrate that the nominee will be given protected time to participate in all PROUD-MED activities. LONs should be submitted by the department/division head, on departmental letterhead, including the nominator’s signature.
- Letters should be sent to PROUDMED@wustl.edu by July 1, 2025 by 5:00pm.
- Nominated candidates will then be contacted by Tamara Green (tsgreen@wustl.edu), PROUD-MED Program Manager, to submit additional application materials which include:
- Brief electronic application form collected via REDCap
- Updated Curriculum Vitae in the Washington University format or NIH Biosketch.
- 1-page Candidate Background description.
- 1-page Career Development statement.
