My research focuses on translational cardiovascular science at the intersection of clinical outcomes research and vascular biology.
I am particularly interested in advanced cardiac surgery and mechanical circulatory support, including Impella- and LVAD-based strategies, and their impact on perioperative and long-term outcomes in patients with heart failure and valvular disease. Using large national datasets and advanced statistical methods, I study comparative effectiveness, risk stratification, and health system–level determinants of outcomes in cardiovascular disease.
In parallel, my laboratory work investigates endothelial and platelet mechanobiology, with an emphasis on ion-channel–mediated signalling pathways that regulate angiogenesis, thrombosis, and vascular adaptation to injury. Integrating mechanistic bench research with population-level clinical data will allow me to reach my goal of improving outcomes in cardiovascular disease.
