My NIH-funded research focuses on the use of advanced proteomics, genomics, and transcriptomics to identify novel biomarkers and small molecule drug targets for Alzheimer disease and related dementias (ADRD) with an emphasis on endothelial and synaptic mechanisms of neurodegeneration. My laboratory is particularly interested in understanding brain endothelial contributions to neurodegeneration and cognitive impairment in ADRD and characterizing the role of endothelial-synaptic interactions in early AD pathogenesis. We also have experience in immunoassay development and validation for biomarker development. As a cognitive neurologist and clinical/translational researcher, I am also involved in the design and oversight of several clinical trials of novel treatment strategies in AD and other dementias.
