The Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS), established in 2007, is embedded in the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) nationwide hub network that provides infrastructure support to deliver programs and services designed to accelerate the translation of research findings into real-world application to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The CTSA program was launched in 2006 and has expanded to nearly 60 academic medical institutions across the country.
Supported by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the ICTS collaborates regionally and nationally through this framework to catalyze innovation in training, research tools, and processes that lead to improved translation of research discovery to move more effective treatments to more patients more rapidly.
