I am currently interested in the pathophysiology and long term effects of epilepsy. I am broadly interested in this topic from a molecular and cellular level, including changes in neurotransmitters and proteins, to a network level, including whole brain structural and functional changes, and continuing to the individual patient’s experience with epilepsy and the effects on society. In the past, my main areas of interest focused on the mechanisms of brain injury and the dynamics of neurotransmission, especially with respect to L-glutamate.
