I am interested in researching the intersection of youth mental health and suicide prevention, with a specific focus on the role of cultural competency in enhancing the effectiveness of intervention strategies. Given the rising rates of mental health issues and suicide among young people, it is crucial to develop and evaluate tailored approaches that are sensitive to cultural differences. My research aims to explore how culturally competent practices can improve the accessibility and impact of mental health services for diverse youth populations. Additionally, I seek to assess the effectiveness of existing suicide prevention programs through rigorous evaluation methods, identifying best practices and areas for improvement. By combining qualitative and quantitative research techniques, I aim to contribute to the development of evidence-based, culturally relevant interventions that can better support the mental well-being of all young people. This research will ultimately inform policy recommendations and practical applications for mental health in youth.
