Utilizing quantitative, qualitative, and community-engaged methods, Dr. Stelson’s research examines how working conditions — especially exposure to trauma — affect the health and well-being of the healthcare and social service workforce and how this shapes patient outcomes. She has a particular focus on 1) occupational vicarious trauma; and 2) behavioral health services. Dr. Stelson has a second line of research aiming to improve workforce retention, care access, and stigma for people living with Long COVID.
