Our laboratory takes a comparative medicine approach to studying human disorders by using a variety of animal models (rats, mice and zebrafish). We generate animal models and characterize them genetically and phenotypically. Current areas of focus include inflammatory bowel disease, polycystic kidney disease, inherited deafness, cell ablation model development in multiple species and the use of CRISPR/Cas9 to generate new rat models.
