I am interest in studying the immune regulatory role of the protein IFIT1. IFIT1 has broad antiviral activity and is thought to restrict viral replication by binding to viral mRNA lacking cap-adjacent 2′-O-methylation to prevent their translation. Recent evidence suggests that IFIT1 may regulates cellular gene expression at the transcriptional level. Using next generation sequencing approaches, I aim to investigate whether IFIT1 also regulates the translation of cellular genes.
