I am a clinical and translational researcher with an expertise the implementation of exercise, nutrition, and sleep interventions to improve metabolic health and physical performance for a spectrum of populations including people with obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and exercise-trained, healthy adults. The overall goal of my research is to determine optimal nutrition and exercise approaches to improve the function (e.g., exercise performance, nutrient handling) of key metabolic tissues, namely skeletal muscle, liver, and adipose tissue. I am particularly interested in understanding the transition between metabolic health and metabolic dysfunction and the different tissues that are affected in order to better design preventative strategies for those at risk of metabolic disease.
