I’m interested in how neuroimaging, specifically PET and MRI, can improve our detection and treatment of disease. As our understanding of the mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases improves, we continue to develop new tools for both earlier diagnosis and better treatment. New PET radiotracers and MRI techniques are being continually developed to better measure neuroinflammation, demyelination, axon integrity, and many other processes which were previously unable to be noninvasively measured. I seek to apply new and old neuroimaging techniques to better understand how phenomena such as chronic inflammation contribute to poorer outcomes in neurodegenerative diseases ranging from multiple sclerosis to Alzheimer disease.
