My clinical interests are in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. I completed an extra year of training in inflammatory bowel diseases and nutrition. I have a particular interest in short bowel syndrome and intestinal failure. I work with a team of physicians, nurses, and dietitians to provide comprehensive care for these challenging patients. I have broad research interests. I have used large databases to examine infectious complications in IBD patients. I have explored novel therapies for UC patients with refractory inflammation after undergoing surgery. During my fellowship I worked in a mucosal immunology lab examining the role of fungi in Crohn’s disease. This work identified a particular species of fungus that impairs wound healing in the intestine. I plan on continuing to be a part of multidisciplinary research to understand and ultimately deliver better care to patients with IBD.
