Research interests are primarily in drug discovery/development and medicinal science. Some topics encompassed by drug discovery/development are target identification/validation, compound screening, lead identification/optimization and therapeutic implementation. Successful endeavors in these areas require an interdisciplinary, highly collaborative team of scientists and physicians. As a medicinal chemist I am highly motivated to build collaborations with medicinal biologists (in vitro and in vivo experimentation) and pharmacologists. I would define medicinal science as drug discovery/development efforts with a greater emphasis on understanding the underlying mechanisms and implications of pharmacological inhibition of the target protein of interest. The drug modalities and classes I am interested in are inhibitors/molecular glues, and small molecules, peptides and antibody-drug conjugates respectively.
