Michael Strickland’s research interests include understanding the complex biology of apolipoproteins that constitute the protein components of high density lipoproteins (HDL). ApoA-I and ApoE are important apolipoproteins with diverse roles in health and disease. Apolipoproteins play an important role in lipid metabolism, transporting cholesterol and other lipids throughout the body. These apolipoproteins also play an important role in immune system regulation with important consequences for diseases as diverse as inflammatory bowel disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
