Patricia is driven by a desire to address sex disparities in biomedical research, where women’s distinct biology has often been overlooked. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Cellular-Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, she is pursuing a PhD to deepen her expertise in reproductive physiology. In the Patterson Lab, Patricia investigates adenomyosis, a gynecological disorder that affects one in three women yet remains poorly understood and without a cure. Using the bovine as a translational model, they combine in vitro methods with spatial gene expression analysis to uncover adenomyosis’ disease mechanisms to advance the development of precise, effective treatments.
