Randall C. Edgell, MD

Professor

Saint Louis University (SLU)

Dr. Edgell, an Early Stage Investigator, will be the Principal Investigator of this project. He was Chief Resident during his final year of neurology residency. He performed clinical fellowships in both vascular neurology and neuroendovascular surgery. During the course of Dr. Edgell’s subspecialty training he became aware of the clinical importance of vertebral artery origin stenosis as an endovascularly treatable cause of stroke. He has since produced several publications in peer reviewed journals on this topic and developed a research consortium to collect data related to it. His membership in the Saint Louis region’s NIH- sponsored Institute of  Clinical and Translational Sciences, collaboration with Saint Louis University’s Center for Outcomes Research (SLUCOR) support team and the Society for Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN) Research Consortium  will allow his research team to conduct a prospective examination of treatment options for this disease.
