Our area of interest includes using CRISPR to upregulate the coxackie-adenovirus receptor concentration found on squamous cancer cells to increase the uptake of gene therapy vector adenoviruses. Increasing the cell surface receptor concentrations of coxsackie adenovirus receptor greatly increases the transduction efficiency of adenovirus and increases it’s utility in treating other diseases. Another area of interest includes using a suicide CRISPR-CAS9 system to prevent cancer reoccurrence post-chemotherapy.
