Dr. Gebauer’s research is focused on the social determinants of health, particularly the influence of neighborhood environment on painful musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Gebauer investigates multiple aspects of neighborhood environment, such as built environment and walkability, as well as the social environment, such as social cohesion, and how these dimensions may influence knee osteoarthritis treatment and debility. She is interested in Geospatial Information Science and ultimately leveraging neighborhoods to increase physical activity, improve health and decrease pain/prevent debility from painful musculoskeletal conditions.
