Sarah E. Oerther, PhD, RN

Assistant Professor

BJC HealthCare (BJC)

Dr. Oerther is a nurse researcher committed to improving children’s health, particularly among families living in rural communities. Her research interests include addressing the impact of extreme weather on health in underserved rural areas. She wishes to further concentrate these research interests by seeking to understand a wide range of direct and indirect impacts of prescribed fire smoke experienced by pregnant and parenting women and their children in the Ozark mountains, the time horizons over which these impacts occur, and the variables that affect how well-prepared, and how responsive pregnant and parenting women and communities within the Ozark mountains are.
