My general research interest involves statistical methods for data mining, machine learning, survival analysis, Bayesian methodology, and their applications in bioinformatics, finance, medical and healthcare data. The methods I have developed so far have been successfully applied to several types of cancer data for detecting the stage of the cancer, type of cancer, and survival time of the patients. They have also being applied in predicting the composition of a material based on near infrared spectroscopy like plasma, petroleum, and food content. Some of my developed models are highly successful in computer aided fast classification of cancer tumor cells based on gene expression microarray data. My Bayesian model based algorithm is used effectively for detecting active genes from a very large pool of available genes.
