My research examines social determinants of women’s health, particularly the intersection of politics, the experience of health/illness, and cultures of expertise. I am currently focusing on female lower urinary tract disorders related to a number of clinical conditions including: childbirth-related injuries, incontinence, recurrent UTIs, chronic pelvic pain, and toileting behaviors with aims of developing high-quality prevention to improve women’s health outcomes. I am exploring health disparities and global health inequality across intersections of gender, race, and class. More broadly, I am interested in the political economy of medicine and the social meaning of health and illness.
