Dr. Zhuoming (Joemin) Liu is a virologist with over 16 years of experience studying infectious diseases, particularly emerging and re-emerging viral pathogens. His research combines molecular virology, immunology, and translational approaches to understand viral infection mechanisms and develop effective interventions. His current work focuses on three areas: (1) identifying novel viral and host factors that regulate viral infection; (2) defining neutralizing antibody epitopes and characterizing viral glycoprotein escape mutations to better understand viral evolution and immune evasion; and (3) developing vaccines and antiviral countermeasures against emerging enveloped viruses. Through these efforts, Dr. Liu aims to advance fundamental knowledge of virus-host interactions and support the development of strategies to prevent and control viral diseases.
